Responsibilities

Roles & Responsibilities
The role of a special adviser is to add a corporate dimension to the advice and assistance available to the CEO and especially recognizing that managing a 54 country’s affairs is enormous; thereby enabling the economic, social and political impartiality of the African Operations of WEDO to be maintained. Our Organization that is injecting considerable sums into the continent needs to ensure that we project a good image and manage our activities in a professional way. Anyone who takes on a special adviser role with WEDO is subject to security vetting checks.
General roles and responsibilities of a special adviser
Special advisers provide economic, social and political advice to the CEO, but also communicate the CEO views to the International Headquarters, each country’s press, and on occasion to the government agencies that ask for needed information. He must cultivate a strong working knowledge of departmental business so they are able to effectively support our projects and International Headquarters priorities.
The role may involve reviewing papers going to the CEO, liaising with Regents, Deputy Regents, Country Managers and Deputy Country Manager, and advising the CEO African Operation on Africa economic, social and political issues as related to each project, particularly the presentation of new policies and major news stories. Special advisers may be called on to support and represent the CEO/VC with other functions like conference, ensuring the CEO’s views are clearly articulated both across the countries in Africa and to the press.
Media Roles
- Liaising with outside interest groups including COMESA, ECOWAS, with economic and political allegiance as dictated by the Group Corporate policy
- Speechwriting and related research, including adding economic, social and political content to material prepared by the International Headquarters.
- Representing the views of the CEO to the media and always projecting the image of WEDO, Group Chairman and the Group CEO.
- Providing expert advice as a media specialist.
- Help lead the Department’s media planning, and ensure that the WEDO’s viewpoint and priorities are borne in mind.
- Liaising between figures in each country, where work of each country’s government and work of WEDO overlap.
- Give reports of the Regents for each region for attention of the CEO and the VC. There will be a staff relationship between the Special Advisers and the Regents. While the Special Advisers are senior in hierarchy to the Regents, the Regents reports to the Vice Chairman, but reports are made through the office of the Special Advisers.
Digital Roles
- Advisers will help oversee the strategic vision of WEDO, social media platforms, from incubating ideas to developing long-term strategy and execution.
- Grant approvals and provide urgent pro and post dated as directed by the CEO when he is not available
- Candidates will have extensive experience of creating high quality, engaging and compelling original content. He will have a strong technical or creative background, or both, and will have worked across a range of content genres.
- You will have a proven track record of creating memorable content, or growing stakeholder engagement, liaising at the top level of management echelons, understanding financial and economic data and implementing strategies to drive reach.

Under the overall guidance of the CEO/ CHAIRMAN of the African Operations Headquarters of WEDO, the Director of Inspectorate & Project Monitoring (DIPM) will be responsible for the monitoring and ensuring high quality and timely inputs, and for ensuring that the projects maintain their strategic vision and that their activities result in the achievement of the intended outputs in a cost effective and timely manner in all the 54 countries in Africa.
The DIPM will be responsible for designing and implementing the Monitoring and Evaluation activities of the Projects; assisting the Special Adviser to the CEO in preparing Quarterly/Annual reports on project progress and will monitor the project activities on a regular basis, developing and maintaining the MIS of the Project and will be responsible for the collection & analysis of different data in relation to the project activities.
The Director of Inspectorate & Project Monitoring works in close collaboration with the project teams in each country and operations clusters, Government officials, private sector, non-governmental organizations related to the projects of WEDO in each country. The office is to ensure that an internal control mechanisms are established against standards; while working in a staff relationship manner with the Special Adviser to the CEO, but reporting directly to the CEO.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Director of Inspectorate & Project Monitoring will have the following duties and responsibilities:
- Develop and strengthen monitoring, inspection and evaluation procedures
- Monitor all project activities, expenditures and progress towards achieving the project output;
- Recommend further improvement of the logical frame work;
- Develop monitoring and impact indicator for the project success;
- Monitor and evaluate overall progress on achievement of results;
- Monitor the sustainability of the project’s results;
- Provide feedback to the Special Adviser on project strategies and activities;
- Suggest strategies to the Regents for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the project by identifying bottlenecks in completing project activities and developing plans to minimize or eliminate such bottlenecks;

The Training and Development Manager plan, coordinate, and direct skills and knowledge-enhancement programs for WeDo African Operations staff, especially at the take-off stage. He/she reports to the Head of Human Resources.
Duties
Training and development manager typically do the following:
- Oversee training and development staff
- Assess employees’ needs for training
- Align training with the organization’s goals
- Create and manage training budgets
- Develop and implement training programs
- Review and select training materials from a variety of vendors

JOB REQUIREMENTS
A bachelor’s degree in programming, computer science, computer engineering, or another related field with advanced course experience in mathematics, computer programming, and software development. Must have several years’ experience managing employees within an IT environment.
